1.85 Rocker, stock cam, do I need to change the springs???
I just picked up a set of Comp 1.85 rockers. I still have the stock cam, will I need new springs or can I get by until I do a cam swap a bit later???
Also, these rockers come with guideplates, do I need hardened pushrods?
Thanks

These are the stock cams in our cars . What year is yours ?
You have as you may already know a stock 1.7 rocker . You devide the rocker and lift then multiply that by the new rocker size and that is what lift you will be running .
For instance , you have a 98-00 cam with a lift of .498 so 1.7 /.498 = .293 (rounded up ). So then multiply .293 by 1.85 = .542 lift .
So you could get by using some yellow ls6 springs that have a lift of .550 . If you are thinking of running a larger cam in the future then just go ahead and buy some 918s good for .600 or go all out and buy some double springs that are .650 .

The 918's are beehive, are the stockers beehive or do I need retianers?
Thanks

What does Comp recommend? They may give you different advice from some that has been posted. Going to the horse's mouth is better than getting info from...well you know the rest.

You need better springs, definitely.
You need hardened pushrods compatible with guide plates.
Sounds like you didn't get a complete kit if you are asking about pushrods, what do you have in the kit?
Does Comp have a pushrod length recommendation? If not, they are a little more complicated to measure than a fix rocker since they are fully adjustable.
