Draining 9"?

Draining 9"? How do you guys do it? Mine didn't come with a drain plug, and I'm almost finished with my 500 mile break in.. I was told to change the fluid after the first 500 miles..
Any suggestions??

Even if it's already installed? Wouldn't that be dangerous to drill into the housing now with the center section in there? There would be metal shavings and stuff...

Oh I know who he is, I've talked to him before..
Only thing I'm worried about now is drilling in and hitting something inside... Where in the housing is the best place to drill?

jack up the pass side? I think if draining it was that important they would have made it easier....or you could pull the axels.....I can just see your car being up for a while if you attempt to drill it, I am sure it works....but not sure it is necessary.
Guess it isnt all that crazy now that I think about it just be careful!!!! GL...

Oh yeah, believe me I am dying to test it out! And yeah, I am kind of worried about drilling it... Maybe taking an axle out and jacking up one side of the car would work?? It would allow a lot of it to leak out I would think...

If you are going to drill it, very bottom of housing centered in the middle front to bac k and side to side. Not a fan of drilling and not pulling diff out though. There is always a chance if something doesn't go right you can damage your third member. If it was me, I would pull the third member.

Alright thanks.. I haven't had too much luck with the pumps.. Tried about 4 different ones to try and get the oil in, in the first place! Eventually just poured it in the fill hole until it came leaking out..

How important is it to change the fluid after 500 miles? I was reading around and a lot of people say you don't need to do it? Also, the directions from Moser don't say anything about it..?

Well, this is extremely important. Imagine having a motor built and not changing the oil after you break it in. Same failure process on a differential. The oil breaks down during the breakin process and will not continue to lubricate the parts properly. I ahve seen differentials fail by not changing the oil in your differential.
