Question 50,000 Miles LS1 Maintenance? (Firehawk)

I am about to run over 50k miles in the Firehawk...

The only things I have done besides regular maintenance is change out the spark plugs at about 20,000 miles, get the rear end serviced, and got a new fuel filter installed...

What does everyone suggest be done for maintenance at 50,000 miles?

I could go and change out everything from plugs, wires, fuel filters, BUT don't really know what's needed/recommended..

Also for what it's worth, I am about to install a custom cam and get the car re-tuned.. so I would like everything to be as good as it can be..

Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already, change your PCV valve. (Many forget about this.)

You may also want to clean your MAF Sensor before your tune. (There is a special cleaner for that.) You'll find reading through the posts that the PCM relies very heavily on the MAF reading for controlling the fuel mixture. If your MAF is dirty, the engine reads less air coming in and mistakenly leans out your mix to compensate.

Brake flush is a big one that people(including me) forget.

Be all that you can be, for your car and in life! Definitely a coolant system flush if you haven't done that. Run Amsoil, in the transmission. Keep up on the maintenance and she'll be running strong for 150k more miles.

I'll second the notion on the coolant flush. Dex cool is some nasty stuff when it gets old...

Here what I have and am doing this spring/summer

1. Fuel Filter Change (AC Delco)
2. Seafoam (Fuel Tank, Crankcase and Combustion, maybe)
3. PCV Valve (Truck Version)
4. Power Steering Fluid Change
5. Coolant Flush w/ Water Wetter
6. Oil Change (Castrol 0w-30)
7. Oil Filter (larger PF-61)
8. Differential Oil Change (Royal Purple w/ Posi Additive)
9. Replace pads, rotors, fluid brake fluid
10. Air Filter
11. Clean MAF Sensor
12. Lube suspension components
13. Spark Plugs and Wires (TR55s and MSD)
14. Clean car (engine, interior, exterior) always seems to run better when clean.
15. Tranny filter and fluid change (A4 obviously)

Before you change your PCV to the "new" truck version - you may want to check out this article for more info on it: http://www.mightyautoparts.com/pdf/articles/tt122.pdf The new valve may cut down on oil consumption, but you don't get somethin' for nothin'. The new valve can build greater pressure in the system than the old design. This may not be worth it if you don't have one of the problems the new valve was engineered to solve.

I went ahead and pulled all 4 idler pulleys and repacked them with grease. Took all of a 1/2 hour, there's a writeup on it here https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=721156&page=2.
