Is everyone using factory struts on there after market fiberglass hood? I have a raptor hood and am worried they are too stiff. The factory hood was much heavier than the after market hood, so I should be able to use a softer strut. Anyone know where I can find some?

I would contact the company that made the hood and see what they say about it.

i think vfn and glasstek both recommend light weight hood struts but for test fitting reasons i used to stock struts and didnt see a problem.

They just seem a little stiff to me. Any one know where I can get a softer set of struts?

I was told all 98-02 hood struts are the same for the stock metal flat hood and the WS6 hood so it shouldn't be a problem. The company usually re-inforces the area for a little more stability

There's probably less than 5 pounds difference in weight between the two hoods though so that makes sense (based on a comparison of my stock TA hood and a Superhawk hood).

If the original poster is talking about one of the lighter hoods (10-15lbs), then different struts are probably in order.

This is a Suncoast Creations Raptor hood.

I have had a raptor hood on my t/a for 7yrs and used the struts supplied with it, not sure if it makes a difference though.
