Default ls6 buildup piston and rod pics

Here's a couple pics of my piston and rod assembly I'm putting in my ls6.. 6.3" LA Enterprises rods, and Lunati/lingenfelter moly coated pistons.. Combined with my awesome Aboslute speed ls6 heads (Thanks Jay!) I'm at 11.92 to 1 compression. Vroom! Just thought I'd share

very nice.. i cant wait to see the tq curve on that motor, im all kinds of intriuged. 1.73 rod/stroke ratio sounds gr-rreat!

P.S. what are you setting the ring end gap to?

I'm not sure what they weigh off the top of my head. I have it written down somewhere. I'll try to dig it up. I hope it will perform pretty well with the long rod/stock strok combo. I'm going to be running a large cam with a tight lsa, so it should have a great upper midrange/topend. I'm running the Diamond Moly Steel file fit rings.. I've not fitted them yet, but plan on going with Diamond's gap recommendation of .016 top .018 middle .015-.060 oil ring.

Cool! LA Enterprises makes great stuff. I had an LN30B crank of theirs once.

Where in Oregon are you? Im in Portland, and there arent many hardcore LS1 folks around here.

looking good man, i just cant seem to get over that rod / pistion combo. makes me think i would have thought of that when i did mine. what does a typical set of those rods run?

Chris, how long has your car been down? it seems i've been on these boards for a year or two, and your sig stays the same.. hope it's just an old sig..

um......no..........same sig, same issue
The new engine took a long time ot save up for. New kid, job changes, all that, changes priorities around.

I hope to be up and working again in abooooouuuut 2 weeks. jmX is coming up here and we are going to make some fun out of dropping my new engine in the SS. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

here's the motor:

Hopefully everything will just bolt right up and runs.

Wheres a little emoticon for a dude praying?

I'm down in Albany.. Yeah, I guess I could be called ls1/ls6 hardcore at this point. The motor is a new ls6 block, polished stock crank, the rods/pistons noted above, Absolute speed ls6 heads, modified holley manifold, huge throttle body, step headers, big cam, alum flywhel, etc. The motor is going in my 93 mazda rx7. It will only weigh 2800 pounds, so it shoud scoot. We'll have to meet up when we get our cars running. Do you ever make it to Woodburn?

The rods new, with the carr sps bolts go for $1200 or so. I lucked out, and found these on ebay for $425. They were a couple years old. When I took them to the machine shop for balancing, they found that the bronze bushing on the pin end of the rods were a little worn(would have made a loose pin fit). $200 later, I have new bushings in, and like new rods. It worked out pretty well.

Viseral:
I will attempt a similar swap in the future and would like to gain the knowledge you folks are about to learn.

Can you ask JMX to PLEASE document this engine swap?

Are you an F-body?

Polo- No, I've never had an lt1, and don't know who mark is. I've been slowly working on this project by myself. Hopefully I'll finish this year. Thanks, I hope it turns out to be pretty quick
