Default CME Camaro guys...what do you think???

I just put my Hooker longtubes on and my Pace setter off road Y pipe...my car is a SLP SS so it came with the SLP Center mount exhaust....I kept that when I did my header install...

My buddy has a WS6 with just a flow master Muffler, and its just as loud as mine with the headers. What Im wondering is, Can I change out the SLP muffler and still use the SLP CME tips?? I want a less restrictive, more aggressive muffler.

I had Magnaflow on my turbo V6 and it was loud...but is it any different then the SLP one??

Just change the tips, the stock ones suck, compared to the aftermarket ones I've seen

What exactly makes a SS a "SLP SS" my car came with the 345HP CME Exhaust package and other SLP goodies, does that mean its a "SLP SS". I thought every SS made had to undergo the transformation process from SLP so in essence aren't all the SS breed SLPs?

You are correct. I guess if you go out and buy more of thier stuff and put it on that would make it more special. lol

I say keep the setup you have and put a dump/ecutout in the I pipe.

I have a similar setup. I just kept the stock muffler and CME tips, but installed a electric cutout in the I pipe.

You're right, all SS's went through SLP...but some got the "second sticker" options that other didn't. My car is an SS, but doesn't have a second sticker on the passenger door. The passenger door would have a label with all the EXTRA SLP goodies that make it an SLP upgraded model.

changing out the muffler wouldn't be hard. my buddy had pacesetter lt's and ory with the cme and a cam and it sounded really good. imo i would leave it, if you want sound, just install a cutout

that muffler is the same as the dual/dual muffler, so it flows pretty damn good, i would drive it around a little while before you do anything drastic, alot of people want loud only to find out they wish it was quieter

Yeah mine has the sticker. But I don't call it an SLP SS , I hate that,no offense to OP though.

Then keep it original. Dont change a thing. I'm a fan of the CME, mine did not come with one, and though it's a SLP SS, There really isn't much on it that is stock, let alone SLP. LOL.

I just dont like the as cast CME tips, because they get dirty, and look like ****, unless you polish out the casting, and or switch to the tips sold on EBAY, and a few other places, which are the same style, just smoother & I think a little bigger. JMO

Check to see if you have a cone/ring of silence on that muffler. Very possible that it could be your culprit as to why the car is so much quieter.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...t=silence+cone

If so, remove it and go from there. I think if it is infact your problem, you'll be more than pleased with the sound when taken care of.
