Does it have to be a JL amp? And why 3 subs? 2 would be easier.

If you have 3 dvc 4 ohm subs, you can wire them all in parallel for a total load of .67ohms. You just have to make sure your amp can handle that, which I don't think JL makes one that will. If you wire the two coils of each sub in series and the subs in parallel, then you'll have a total 2.67ohm load. The JL amp will handle that, but you just need a like 900W RMS to at that load. A JL 1000/1v2 would probably do well, but you're talking about a 650-1000 dollar amp, depending on where you buy it. If you only go with 2 subs, you can use a 500/1v2 amp and save about 300 bucks on the amp itself.

For the 3 jl subs with 2.67 ohm resistance a Hifonics BXi 1608D will probably give you around 800w rms, for $300 online.

Or if you want a little more power a Hifonics BXi 2008D with around 1000w rms ,with the 2.67 ohm resistance, for $340 online.

FYI, if you ran 2 or 4 subs your amp choice would be alot better!

actually 2-12 w6 are perfect and give u this great low deep bass 3 10s are nice but if you dont want 2 spend that much money just get 2 10 w6 they will sound better than 4 10 w3 but definetly go with a 1000-1 u can never go wrong with that amp and you wont have to mess with ur alternator

Better then A JL Amp !
I M O, MMATS D2000.2 with a 2.67 ohm load should give you a good 1000 watts, and a easy load for this amp. And when you decide to add a 4th sub you'll get the full 1500 watts, and also this is a underrated amp.
Small, efficient, and kick-***! And it's on sale right now for $570 online, of course.

And no...lol, I don't work for or sell MMATS amp....lol

MMATS is good, but I definitely wouldn't say better than JL.

So what do you think is better then the JL 1000/1v2, for around the same price or less that will give him 1000w rms to those 3 subs ????

You should go with a ZAPCO. By far some of the best car audio equipment available. I have three Reference amps two 500.1 and one 360.4. JL audio is good but Zapco is better. JL is, IMO a little less than the reference amps produced by Zapco and cannot hold a candle to the competition amps Zapco makes. Take a look you will not be disappointed.

Maybe a Zapco WOULD be a little better amp, but it's probably going to cost more than the JL! Retail is like 1300 bucks on the 1100.1! WOW

Actually a Zapco REF1100.1 would be perfect his subs would get around 1000w rms with a 2.67ohm load, and he could get one online for $770

US Amps, and Sundown Audio also make some really good, but expensive amps, IMO.

I'd go with like a Hifonics BX11608D. They're not the best amps in the world but they are plenty good, especially for a subwoofer (where SNR doesn't matter as much)
