SLP oil pump vs. TSP Ported LS6 pump??
Hey everyone,
I'm working on getting all my parts in line ready to order and i'm trying to decide what to do about oil pumps and timing chains.
Is the SLP oil pump better and/or worth the extra money compared to the TSP ported oil pump?
And my LS1 has 45k miles on it, should i get the SLP double roller timing chain or the TSP GM LS2 chain for $38???
Thanks!

Most of them are modified LS6 pumps with shims for greater pressure and some boring for higher volume.
The only one I found to be made from scratch is the Melling pump which they claim to cast themselves. The Melling also comes with 2 different springs to change between high pressure and really high pressure.
That's the one I'll be getting.
They are priced about the same.

IMO TSP is a lot better I have a couple of customers ran SLP pumps but the oil pressuer
was very low 30-35psi at idle when they changed to TSP it was 40-45psi at idle.
About timing chain I also have lots H/C/I cars are running LS2 CHain its great peice some guys even have 408ci with those chains its very strong.
Good luck.

I have the Melling perfomance and it is wonderful. After all my engine work was done, you couldn't tell a difference from the oil pressure when the car was stock. Its very consistent and I have no problems. Was definitely a good buy.

The same thing happened to a buddy of mine when he ran an MTI ported pump; low pressure.
TSP = high reliable pressure at all rpm's, throttle positions, and temperatures.

The Melling 10296 pump and an N-Motion timing chain set is what I would pick. The N-Motion will give you the Torrington bearing on the cam gear.

This guy has been blueprinting pumps for years.
His melling 10555 I got for my sbc 383 was top notch craftsmanship.
He does blueprinted and coated versions of the melling pumps for our cars for 130.00
That's who I'm going with.
