Another LS1 S10 build. Finally finished!!!
Starting on my next S10 project tomorrow. It is a 98 and the donor engine came from a 02 TA. I plan on doing heads and cam combo, 4000 stall and custom built LT's. Goals for the truck are to drive to the track, run 11.50's N/A on a 20" drag radial and drive home while getting 20+ mpg. We'll see if it can happen.
Below is a pic of the new project and a few of my last build with a conventional sbc.

I am hoping the light weight of the truck will make up for the TC. Hoping it will weigh around 3100 without driver. The other truck weighs 3000 with A/C, OD Trans and aluminum headed sbc. The LS1 will be lighter but adding the weight of the 20" wheels and tires.

Progress!
Was able to make a little progress on the truck today. Hopefully by the end of the week we will have the frame rail and crossmember notched and the motor and trans sitting in place.

Looking on for my own build. have u solved the issue of traction lose with the light weight rear end of the S10. Any thought of rear end suspension to solve this. Would like to know what your thought on it is. I could use the help with it.

These trucks work a lot better than people think. My last build has gone a best of 1.48 60' on drag radials with home made traction bars. No other tricks to the suspension, it even had stock replacement shocks on the front and bell techs on the rear. I will be using cal-tracs on this truck.

Which pan are you using? i used the H3 pan when i built mine, cleared the X-member but its a tight fit. Also, it helps alot if you jack the front of the cab up about 4" when setting the motor in place, will make life alot easier.

Thanks for the tip. I am attempting to use the F-body pan. We notched the crossmember for the pan and frame rail for the A/C. Was setting the motor in place the other night when I discovered JTR sent me 2 driver side mounts. They were marked driver and pass. but definitely were 2 drivers. hopefully I will get the right one tomorrow or monday.

We usually go there twice. Once mid day and then at night, If you can park anywhere. Our hotel used to be across the street from it and that was freekin awesome. Then they raised there price and there went that. I almost had the last spot at the la playa but someone beat me to it. Cant wait to see yours also.

Good luck on your build and keep taking lots of pics! I should be ripping apart my truck, if I keep it and don't get an 02-03 to save from computer hassles, in about a year after I graduate. I'm also interested in your plans for the suspension and rearend. I'm debating going 12-bolt or 8.8" Explorer.

For the rear I am going to use a 8.5" out of a full size truck that I will have narrowed and use the small 7.5" axle ends. For suspension I am going to run Caltracs if the drop leafs get the truck low enough, if not I will use a combination of dropped leafs and blocks and make a set of traction bars that will bolt to an additional set of spring perches. I do not want them to hang too far under the truck so if I need more than a one inch block I will have to make a set.

More progress!!!!
Was able to get some more done to the truck this past week. We got the frame boxed in and stripped down for powder coating, was also able to locate a stepside bed. Hopefully in the next day or two I will be able to drop it off and get it back by the end of the week. Why is it these things never go as planned? It seems that each day I find more that I want to do.
