Anybody here running one of those custom fabbed Ford 8.8's? Just curious to see if anyone here has one of these in there car and how it's holdin, and what kind of mods you have and times and 60's ur runnin. Thinkin about gettin one of these when I get a rear since they're lighter and don't rob as much power as the 12-bolt's and 9" (this is what i've heard, not positive). I hear they're real strong, but I want some real world proof, cuz they may be strong in the mustangs, but who knows what custom fabbing one and havin to cut **** and weld and all would do to it's strength. Aight, if anyone has one and has some experiences to tell me, please do, thanks!

Re: Anybody here running one of those custom fabbed Ford 8.8's? the 8.8 is made the same as a 12 bolt and 9", i.e. the axle tubes and center section tig welded together. the guys who builds them has ALOT of experience building custom made.....everything for drag cars. He used to work for a shop in DFW that build some of the fastest pro mods in the country.
I have the 8.8 ur talking about. I cannot mention his name or company on here but I will send u a PM. I love my rear end, it's just as strong as a 12 bold or 9" with the same internals. He really does a tremindous job on craftsman ship and warrenty. he builds one of the nicest coustom buit parts for our car I've ever seen. He is in the prosses of making a machined TA mount that will look like a "factory" part. right now he custom builds the TA mount but it's just as stron if not stronger than the factory piece. if u want any more info I'll be happy to answer it. check ur PM's.

Re: Anybody here running one of those custom fabbed Ford 8.8's? the STOCK 8.8 in a mustang is known to handle 10 second runs, even some 9 second runs. I have a buddy that ran a stock 8.8 with some Ford Motorsport gears, on slicks, nitrous shot out of the hole and he would run 9's. fastest was a 9.51. The guy who builds the hybrid 8.8's does the same thing. 7200 RPM out of the hole, on slicks, on nitrous, with a slightly modded 8.8 (like the one he sales). It's a tough SOB.

Re: Anybody here running one of those custom fabbed Ford 8.8's? I also have one those 8.8's..mine was the first he built. I have been beating on this thing for 6 months now and no problems. I went to the track last night and got some new bests. It went a 7.2@95 with a 1.58 60' This is weighing 3550#'s. It's a heads/cammed car. I'm running on some 28x10 tires, so they rear is getting stressed pretty good.

Re: Anybody here running one of those custom fabbed Ford 8.8's? lol, i feel a lock coming soon. But just to let you guys know there are a lot of the drag radial crowd in the FFW and NMRA that are running well into the 8s with 8.8s.
The infamous Big Daddy is running a 8.8 with 33spline axles and a spool and is going mid 8s over 160mph. 60s are around the 1.4-1.5 range
