y-pipe bangs floor on right turns
Just spent 2 days installing my new pacesetters, and I didnt listen to everyone about motor mounts. Regret that now, as i understand its way more difficult with the headers in there. Can I / would it be worth it to install just one poly mount on the drivers side (thats where it hits)??
Everyone that put motor mounts in claims it completely solved their problems, and I cant get anymore clearance out of the y-pipe.
Any other tips? Can I just Jam something inbetween the cat and the the floorboard?

Just changing the driver side motor mount to poly will fix your problem. Been that way on my car for a few years. And although it is a bitch to change with the headers installed, it's possible (that's how I did mine).....allow yourself lots of time, swearing a lot seems to help.

should help on those pacesetters the OP has though.

heard that this works for some people...might be easier if your exhaust isn't welded.

When I had mine I put a piece of radiator hose between where it hit and put a worm clamp around it to hold it there. It worked perfect for the two years I had them. If I had it to do again I would have probably just got rid of the Y pipe and got duals.

They aren't fun, but you NEED to do them when you do your headers. I did them with the manifolds off in under an hour, and my Pacesetter ORY never taps the floorboard. They are a MUST DO when installing long tubes.

why do you need them? the heat hose mod cheaper and usually solves the problem right? i realize that new mounts is better than ghetto rigging it but if installing them is such a difficulty then why not just try the hose first? if that fixes things then great, you just saved a ton of time and some money.

Bold words in the quote says enough.

It's a one hour job, at most, when the manifolds are off. That's why everyone who does longtubes should do the mounts at the same time. They're cheap, and they're easy to do with the manifolds off. There's no good reason to not do the poly mounts. For the money and effort you spend installing one of those Mufflex hangers, you could have done poly mounts and never worried about it again.

when i had my headers and y pipe on, i tried everything to kill the y-pipe banging floor issue.
the mufflex bump stop was the only thing that helped it.. i modified it a little - kept it as one piece and had the rubber cushioning the arm from the floor. worked fantastic.
i think over time, the engine torque started to bend the y-pipe, but that might have been my imagination.

I'd not do the mufflex bump stop... all you are doing is using your y pipe and headers as a motor mount. Just doesn't seem like a good idea since you exhaust and headers were not designed to take a load like that.
