I put mine in the oven at about 300 degrees. But it was still a pain to put on and it took alot of cranking so it didn't make it any easier. Best bet is an install tool. I used a longer bolt, a locking tool, 2 breaker bars and a 4' cheater pipe. But you run the risk of stripping the threads on the crank with the longer bolt.

It takes ALOT of force to put the pulley on. If your doing it with a bolt turning in the threads, the threads may give out since the longer bolt is not using the full length of the threads while applying the pressure to install the pulley. The install tool threads all the way in and then has another nut to drive the pulley on. I didn't have this problem but several people have posted that they have. If you use the longer bolt, make sure it's not just engaging 1/4" or so of threads when it makes contact with the pulley. And put oil on the bolt since there will be alot of friction on the threads.

Ok, if you don't want to put up a post in a day or two that reads:
A: HELP!! I stripped my crank trying to use my stock bolt to pull on my pulley
B: I am leaking oil out of my mail seal onto my flywheel because I smacked my pulley on with a mallet.
Then buy the correct tool for the job and save yourself the grief and money later on.

Don't try and do it any other way, you're only going to be either very lucky, or very sad.

okay, if you want to go ***** out, and really, take this advice thinking that it may screw you in the end...twice I have laid my pulley out in the sun for like 1/2 hour. you can also put it in the oven at high 100 degrees.....then slap the pulley onto the crank snout. GET AT LEAST 3-4 threads of the stock bolt wound on BY HAND - count them! Then you probably will be safe to start cranking on it. Best thing to do would be to get the longer bolt or the install tool though.
