Default Brake problems????

I just replaced my front calipers/rotors/shoes. I bleed all four corners. I can pump up the brakes and it is hard but as soon as I release the pedal and get on the brakes again the pedal goes almost all the way down. I have bleed the system twice. Could this be air in the ADS? I do not see a bleed valve on the ABS. What can I do? This is my daily driver? I have never had brakes problems like this.

i had the same issue when i replaced all my brakes. so what i did was take it out and stomped on the brake pedal to get the ABS to lock up. then i went back and bled the brakes again and this fixed the problem.

How fast were you going when you stomped on the brakes? Did you do it just once?

Thanks.

I tried it and bled the brakes but I still have the problem. Maybe I did not stomp on them hard enough. Do you stomp on them and make a complete stop or just stomp them?

Thanks.

If triggering the ABS module by braking hard doesn't do the trick, then you'll need to find a Tech2 or other electronic instrument to reset the ABS module, then bleed.

I did not even look. Is that the trick? The light needs to come on, is that right? I did not notice a light. I will try it again tomorrow. I am going to wear out my lug nuts.

Thanks.

If you have a safe, flat place to go, doing it in the rain will make it easier to activate the ABS, and cause the wet roads are slipperier, you can get the ABS to kick in at a lower speed.

This is the trick. The ABS module has an internal bleed function that is accessible with the TechII. The only other way to do it is to get the ABS to kick in then re-bleed. Gravel driveways and parking lots are probably the safest.

I recently put in a new caliper in the front left. It was an OEM caliper. My brakes at that point were quite a bit soft and wasn't getting any bubbles bleeding the brakes.

Now I don't understand why, but the brake is starting to feel a lot better over the long run. I don't know if it was just a bubble that made its way to a different part of the system and I just need to bleed it, or what it is. So if the brakes are just a little softer than they were before but you can still get the car into ABS then see how it is after a few weeks. I actually autoxed with a somewhat soft brake pedal. Call me crazy but I think it helped me during the rainy events preventing me from over-braking.

My brake pedal feels pretty firm at this point and working well.

I took it out again. I did not see any light. The only lights I see for ABS is ABS INOP and it never came on. Is that the light you are talking about or are you talking about the brake warning light? That is the only two lights or am I missing something?

I feel so stupid.

Is it the Low TRAC light that I should be looking for?

To be honest, I've never seen the "ABS" light come on in my car in 13 years of ownership....

if i remember right, i turned off the ASR and stomped the brakes and im pretty sure the Low Trac light came on. Its been a little while. But ya im pretty sure when you activate the ABS the LOW TRAC light comes on letting you know the ABS is adjusting the brakes for the current condition. give it a shot.

I got the LOW TRAC light to come on three times. Bled the brakes. The right rear seem to have a little air in but the others did not. Still have the problem. Should I try it one more time? There is a lot of traffic out today.

Thanks,

Bill
