Default -8an lines and the fuel bucket???

I am running -8an feed lines and am wondering how you all have plumed them into the stock sending unit.

Thanks for the help.

With an Aeromotive quick connect/disconnect fitting.

AEI-15118

That's the part number that will fit the 3/8" hard line. Two of the fittings on the top of the tank are 3/8" (feed and return) with a 5/16" fitting in the middle for the EVAP system.

To use that part, you'll also need a -8 O-Ring Boss to -8AN adapter (they sell those too).

Maybe I am not reading this right but are you saying to put a 3/8ths quick disconnect (which is a -6an) onto the factory feed line and then run the -8an line off of the quick disconnect? If this is the case, that would be a pretty big restriction right off the bat.

The correct way to plumb the feed line would be to use a -8an bulkhead fitting. You plan on using the feed line as a return?

If I'm misunderstanding you, ignore this post. Just trying to help out.

Use a -6 to -8 adapter to connect the -8 line to the quick connect. The restriction is negligible & this way there is no need to modify the stock tank connector.

No need to add a bulkhead it is the volume of the -8 line that you want not the restriction of the 3/8" outlet the pumps have the pressure to overcome that. Like with our stage 3 street kits we make every bit of the power that the 2 pumps can put out. As Lonnie said testing has shown no gain going bigger.

Just a thought... The OP has a 2001 T/A, so he will have the plastic bucket and sending unit. It looks a little more difficult to use the bulkhead fitting with the plastic one vs. the metal one.

Is there any way to use a double pump set up without hacking up the bucket or sending unit? If you cut up the bucket that limits how empty you can run the tank, correct?

The way Lonnie sets up his double pump setup leaves very little opening on the bottom for fuel to escape. It leaves just enough room for the bottom of the pumps to go down through to attach the two socks. There are no holes cut in the side of the fuel bucket itself.

Beating a dead horse here......

No need to change the fuel outlet on the tank sender. It will not make enough difference to matter. After building a few hundred kits, I would know if it is a problem.

As for the bucket mods, I build mine to keep the pumps flooded with fuel so they do not overheat. The more you cut, the worse it is.

Fuel level is not an issue under normal driving, but for racing I would keep at least 1/4 tank in there to prevent fuel starvation.
