Default Cam for a S/C stock LS1

Is there anyone around here that is using a small cam with a blower? I'm considering the LS6 cam (because it's nearly the same specs as the GT2-3 and $130 less)...the hot cam...or a custom grind in the 21X/22X 115-116 LSA. This will be my first FI car....all the others have been heads/cam only.

My goals are to make about 500rwhp (D1SC) and have a nice smooth idle and retain my gas mileage which is averaging 22 right now. I'm going to start the s/c install in a few weeks.

Post up your results or opinions. Remember...smallish cams!

I got a custom grind from SQR. It idles good, and drives like stock. My car made 514rwhp and 493rwtq on 7lbs of boost. If you want actuall stock like idle you may be able to get that too but I'm not sure. When they designed my cam they kept in mind that the motor would stay stock for a while. Everything from the cam to the tune was done to help try to create a longer engine life for my car while still getting my 500rwhp.

Not real sure. I can call them on monday and see. I'm sure they will grind you one too if you tell them what you want out of one.

I run the A&A blower cam (220/224) and make about 550/500 on a stock head 98 and get about 27 MPG on the highway (M6 Vette).

Thanks Bob, thats a very nice cam, had one in my previous N/A 99 SS. Too bad I cannot run 16psi...but maybe 8. I have a set of 317 heads which will go on and I'd like to run a small cam like the GT2-3 or the LS6. I'll most likely be calling you when the install gets closer for parts and info.

Good info, thanks. How much boost pressure? Is this on 92 octane?

I'm guessing you could hit your goal with the stock cam. My motor is completely stock and made the numbers in my sig.

Let me know if you have questions during the install, you can find me on the local boards too.
