Default Untunned pacesetter, ory, cutout, 98 m6

So went for a dyno today, car is a 98 m6 trans am with 90k on the clock. It has the pacesetters, tsp ory, and dmh ecutout at end of Y. Also is untunned and still has stock exhaust. Dyno runs were done at PSI motorsports, great guys and would recommend them to anyone.

Car put down the following:
Cutout closed- 309rwhp | 295rwtq
Cutout open- 330rwhp | 312rwtq

Overall im happy being as its basically a stock car with just exhaust work done.

i would think a stock car would put down more than that with lt's but you shouls put an ls6 intake and ported tb that should pick up about 20

Get True Duals installed, LS6 intake or Fast 90/90 setup, HP Tuner and a good TUNE, and a mild cam and you'll see upper 380 RWHP.

I have a 98 z28 with those lt's, a lid, and 4.10s it made 331hp and 338tq on motor. With a 75 shot it made 402hp and 452 tq. Same miles as yours. This was through a chokemaster no cutout.

I have a flowmaster muffler and i can tell a VERY noticeable difference from 60mph up when the cutouts open.

Not bad. You need one of my ported TB's for 7-10 more rwhp

Seriously with a ported TB, a few more tweaks and a base tune you could hit 340's no problem.

It's very odd that your making more hp than tq in a basically stock car.

98's do that. They have a different cam than the other years. They usually make more HP than TQ.

I had a freak 98 back in the day. Made 351 rwhp untuned through Macs/ORY and trapped 115mph all stock internal.

I knew the cam specs varied on the yr models, but the 98s, 99s, and 00s have the same cam, then the 01s and 02s got the SLIGHTLY diff cam. I have seen 99s and 00s for SURE dyno more tq than hp, which is the norm while only bolt-ons.

Sounds like you DID have a freak! My car with most bolt-ons went 12.30s@113 with 1.8 60fts, and I thought that was pretty good for a full weight bolt-on m6.

My 98 has bolt ons, it made 320hp and 330tq. Curious to see what a cutout and ported tb would do.

98's can make good power, just takes a couple of tweaks to get them up to par. If you've still got your EGR, pull the tube out of the intake and cut it so it's not interfering with the air flow. That mod made 6 more rwhp on my old 98, I did that one on the dyno. Another suggestion is depending on your mileage, Seafoam and/or use "GM Top End cleaner" on your engines. 98's were the most prone for knock retard, and a crusty top end with definitely create false knock causing your PCM to pull timing and lose power. Get fresh plugs in there, make sure to get a good ported TB, do all your other free mods, and you'll be right up there with the rest of the LS1's.

I do think I get a little knock retard on the top end. 1230s @ 106-107, seems like I should have a little higher mph for that et.

98 knock sensors suck. I do NOT recommend desensitizing them like some others do, but there are ways to get around the false knock. My 98 pulled 4 degrees of false knock every single day for 5 years, up until I built a new motor for it and had it tuned.
