Default racetronix pump issues

in short, i got the car back from the shop. brand new pump, only driven for about a week and 700+miles. car was warming up in the drive way. 5minutes later the car died. hooked up a pressure gage and no pressure. i have a multi meter. what do i need to check?

where can i find the template to cut the hole behind the rear seat over having to drop the rear end.

there is a bulk connector near the tank with the wiring harness to the pump check for battery power with the key on engine off check for ground as well. also check the fuel pump relay and even use another relay to check function now do you hear the fuel pump turning on with the key forward as well with no fuel psi or what.

Shouldn't that be under warranty, and don't cut a Firehawk, let alone any car. Not more than an afternoon job.

when i get back from work on thursday a buddy of mine who has more electrical aptitude is going to guide me through. starting with swapping out the relays. another buddy mentioned that if the rear mounted oil pump fails it will shut off the fuel pump, could that be true?

Rear mounted oil pump?

Easiest thing to do is remove the Racetronics relay from the back by the tank and jump the two terminals that the thick red wires are connected to. If the fuel pump runs the problem is not in the tank.
If it doesn't, test for 12 volts at the red wires. All can be done with the key off.

a guy in the carclub that know's alot about LT1's is going to help this weekend to find out what's wrong. if the worst should arise, i will not cut a hole to get to the pump.. but dropping the rear-end will for sure be a learning experience

did you install the ENTIRE kit, wiring harness and everything?

with the current (AMPS) draw on the FACTORY lines that new pump will kill your rear wiring harness from the factory

What feed hose did you use on the pump? Make sure it didn't come loose or split open & its bleeding back in the tank, ask me how i know

BTW, i'm sure you don't want to hear this, but cut the door to the sending unit, you'll have that pump in your hands in less then a 1/2 hour & alot less work.

You'll in no way IMO hurt the value of the car, these doors are a blessing, not that i want it too, but i'm not concerned about having issues with my pump now, hell its right there , the dremmel works great, just get a packet of those cut-off wheels & start cutting, i went through about 8-10, i just could not fathem dropping that tank AGAIN , f*uck that.

Whats up Brian (i think thats you), heres the link to the fuel pump install: http://www.gonicd.com/intankinstall/...mpinstall.html

Sorry to hear your racetronix pump is actin up... mine has been awsome. And i went through 2 walbros on my LT1, ended up going stock. Cutting the hatch is the way to go!

Just make sure you dont shoot metal shards all over the interior of the car. If you need any info let me know!

it is i indeed. a car club buddy up here is going to help me drop the rear-end out and do it the right way. i'm hoping something came off with all that vibration from the crazy straight flow exhaust. the car was idling in the drive way and it just shut off.... that's my take anyway... hopefully something stupid like that

Eh, i wouldnt say the 'right way'... lol. Theres many ways to skin a cat!

I hope you have better luck then i do, because if i was to not cut it... id have to be in there all the time. So i hope you get her straightened out! When i cut mine i kept the square piece of metal, painted the bottom orange to match the car, and put 2 door hindges on it (that were also painted to match)... i just gotta figure out a latch type thing. Ill probably just fab a little tab.

Let me know if you wanna see pics to get another idea. It actually looks pretty good. And if i ever need to get in there its 15 seconds, versus 4 hours. Just something to think about! We are talking turbo'd cars now...

Good luck bro! Wish ya the best... oh and when your back in town we need to line up again! My ***** still not exactly dialed in, but it'll be ready by the end of august.

i can't if it's noisy, to hard to tell over the pure awesome sound of the turbo ... when i turn the key to "on", i can hear the pump run for that 2or3 sec. as i have always heard or it's what i believe is to be the fuel pump and not the STS oil pump

well, after getting under the car today. I've decided to go with the trap door. with the fully wrapped & welded exhaust pipe i don't want to have to cut and re-weld. right now, waiting for the new pump as a back up if the current pump has a bigger issue
