Default Suddenly lost almost 100 miles per tank!!

I just moves back to Texas from California and my 2000 Z28 is only getting about 200 miles per tank and when i was in Cali i was getting almost 300 miles per tank. Im not sure if my car is tuned specifically for Cali gas by the previous owner either. I have changed the fuel filter and have been running injector cleaner for the past few fill-ups and still no luck. I have had this car for over 2 years now and i always fill up with premium except for the past 6 months or so i had to use regular cause of $$ but only lost about 20 miles or so from that. Now if i use premium it doesn't help at all. Also i have a locking gas cap so no one is steeling my gas. And my spark plugs are only 3k miles old. Please help!

p.s. Nothing has changed as far as how much i use my A/C or my freeway/ in town driving ratio.

I cant think of anything else that would cause that drastic of a difference.

I will however expect an apology when you figure out i was right. LOL

there shouldn't be much of a difference in fuels from cali-texas. they're aerated in cali for sure... idk aobut texas, but i believe so.
on the accord, you could probably unhook the battery for a bit and see if that resets the tables well enough to fix it. if so, then you need a new tune on the Z.

There is no way that is worth a 100m per tank.

02's seem to be likely culprits.
although i have a bad 02 sensor in my Z28 at the moment... which is not severely affecting my gas mileage. yet.

LOl catfish you might be right. I guess i could just go ahead and change the O2's cause its a real cheap fix, and it would eliminate that possibility. I am thinking about running an ethanol mix like maybe 10 or 20% to help clean everything out. Im also going to check my fuel filter and make sure that place put it on correctly and is not leaking. I found that when they checked my coolant level they forgot to put the cap back on the refill tank and i drove all the way from cali with it off! Im also looking into getting HP Tuners. Ill try disconnecting the battery on the Honda too and see if that works.

Default O2's cheap fix

Where do you get your O2's?
Everywhere I look they're 70 bucks a pop.
If that were a cheap fix... you've got more disposable income than I.

... then again... you could make that back in about two tanks of gas if you get your 100miles back.

Weeell i assumed it would be a cheap fix but i was wrong. Everywhere i look they are almost 80 bucks a piece. But yeah thats true, I might as well be throwing money out the window while im driving. Man i wish this problem would just fix itself.

Well guys i have good news and bad news. The good news is there is nothing wrong with my car, and the bad news is that all of Dallas and Fort Worth have been using a 10% or 20% ethanol mix in ALL of the gas here. So everyone has lost about 70 miles per tank. Thats what the guys at the shop said where i took my car. This really blows cause gas prices keep rising and now I have to buy more gas just to go the same distance and there is nothing i can do about it! THIS SUCKS!

I don't see the logic if mixing 20% crap into the gas, to loose 35% fuel economy.

I'd rather pay 20% more for real gas, than loose 35% fuel economy.

(my quick/ghetto testing of E10 here has only lowered my economy 8-10%, but it's still junk)

I was going to say that... my bike (a 2003 ZX-6R 636) used to see nothing but 93 octane gas. and It started running shitty all of a sudden, the guys at my local bike shop said to run 87 in it because there is less Ethanol in 87 octane gas. I started running it and it runs much better... not so much on the fuel economy side. Because I'm usually riding it with the RPMs cranked around 9500-12000 so gas millage isn't a huge concern, but it wouldn't idle for ****.

Moral of the story is Ethanol blow!
