MR2 vs LT1
I have a guy that wants to race me in his MR2. I know he has a built engine with a fairly big turbo. Car is a stick. I'm going to race him either way, but I'd like to see how you guys predict the outcome.

I have a 91 MR2 they are quick but believe it or not they are not light. Mine was harder to push around the staging lanes then the WS6 With the Turbo Kit o.O
Fun cars none the less do not under estimate it.
Video it though I would like to see it!

It's hit or miss. Those things can be FAST, or fast, or "fast." I raced on that was easily in the LOW 13s if not 12s (especially with traction) and he looked and sounded VERY close to stock.

i dunno he would have to play catch up to you id say your car would run some 12's easy. matters how much boost etc. so many thing could play a part on how turbo cars run.

No MR2's are RWD, Mid-engine. What size turbo is he running? Almost any aftermarket turbo will get you into 12's very easily (the stock turbo is good for high 12's.) If he has a built engine I would put some spray on yours to be on the safe side b/c that could be anywhere from 350-650rwhp in a 2600-2800lb car.

My friend has an MR2 that has been through many stages. when he first did the NA to turbo swap the car was running mid 13s @ 100 with just a boost controller (good track and he's a good driver)
he then installed a 20g turbo, intercooler, and a turboback exhaust. it made about 300 whp on 17 lbs of boost and stock fuel injectors (which were limiting him). it went 12.6 @ 113 or 114 spinning pretty bad.
now he tore it all down, built short block, oversized valves in heads, aftermarket fuel setup, and some garrett turbo he's not telling anyone about. I think hes planning on running well in to the 11s. with around 400 whp. it doesn't take much power to get these cars movin'

There is a gentleman here who has a 700hp one I think its higher actually. He loves them. They are def a lot of fun, I would never have let mine go but when it came down to the F-Body vs the MR2... Sorry but the community for the F-Body is easily 10x the size of the MR2's and the MR2 group is not big about meets etc. They are one of the most loner groups I have found...even with helping eachother. (There are maybe 2-4 good guys in the whole state here who try to help others)
