Default Stock Oil Pressure Gauge Not Working??

the damn oil pressure gauge in the stock gauge cluster stopped workin a couple of days ago. its kind of weird. when the car is off, it goes down to zero, but when i turn it on, it will go up to around 40 and then not move at all, even while driving or WOT. im guessin its probably the oil sender unit, but i havent touched it and i havent messed with the intake at all. i did have a turbo kit on the car that i recently sold. is there another problem that i looked over? or is it just the oil sending unit crapping out?

It's possible. If the Oil Pressure Sending Unit was broken I would think that it wasn't working at all and be at zero

I broke my sending unit puting the intake back on. when I started it it had no pressure at all gave a "0" reading. Replaced it with a new one from GM and guage works fine.

I have seen 04 silverado guage clusters do crazy stuff like that. work fine then not at all or completely wrong. like going with the flow of traffic in a 55 mph zone and it says your doing 90 mph.

More than likely the sending unit. I have seen them crap out for no reason before. Cheap and pretty easy. Prolly need a sending unit socket to make it easier.

I have seen them not move or read really high or erratic. Had one on a 68 GTO (first car) spurt oil out and make a mess.

Yahelou! Sold the turbo, COOL! I'm having problems with my gauge too. I think it's the sending unit. They all do weird things. There is a guy on one thread who made a socket to remove sending unit. I will try to find the link. WHere the heck is the sending unit on our cars anyway???
