Default LS1 Engine Cover

Hey guys... came across this. Although not exactly cheap at $497.48 it caught my eye and thought I'd share...

these are starting to float around here lately. I think these are a neat way of cleaning up your engine bay. Maybe sometime in the future ill buy one of these.

That is pretty cool looking. I always liked the way the holden's and the cts-v's cleaned up the engines.

Never liked the idea of engine covers--I wanna see my huge V8, not a piece of plastic.

I think a fully built and color-coated engine from any generation, looks better than any plastic cover that they could make...

I think thats way too much for a plastic cover.... no matter how you color that piece, it will never look as good as a clean engine.

First off, there not plastic. There carbon fiber. BIG difference.
And second, the look much better than you think. I have one sitting around here somewhere that I got a couple years ago for next to nothing since one corner is slightly damaged. Don't get me wrong, I'd never $500 for one, but what I paid was a hella good deal and well worth it.

And to the OP, thanks for posting this, I had forgotten I had it. Guess I might be seeing how it looks atop the 383 going in soon...

Those that see the true beauty in machines and how they look when put together right, will think otherwise. But to each their own.

Still even out of CF I think it will look WAY outta place in a f-body engine bay. As stated above a very thought out color combo on a built motor is sexier than ANY engine cover could ever be.

But then again I'm not real fond of FRC's either. I like seeing a car with aftermarket valvecover w/coil relocation or colored stock valve covers with colored coil brackets/coils more.

Something about seeing ALL of a performance V8 seems more traditional American muscle to me. All these covers & stuff just take away from the natural buety of the beast under the hood.

by the looks of it, it would need to be modified to fit the f-bodys just like the regular covers that you can by need that to be cut to fit.

and i agree with the above that a dressed up engine looks way better

I would say that If you had a stock motor, and planed on keeping it that way than this would be a good idea. However, considering that this is a tech site for people to make highly modified engies you would not want to cover up the thousands you spent on the engine.
