Clogged Fuel Filter I replaced my fuel filter today because my car had developed a whine around the fuel pump. The old filter was original im guessing (ac delco) and my car has 60,000 miles. Needless to say it was pretty clogged and was hard to put air through. So now the whine seems to have gone away or has tremendously decreased, but im wondering if now the pump is shot and going to puke on me. Im debating installing a Walbro 255 lph pump cause one of the sponsors has them right now for 89.99 shipped. Just wondering what everyone thinks. Also my car is throwing codes for both lower 02 sensors, Bank 1 and 2. Could the fuel pump not building enough pressure have anything to do with this in any way? I've only had the car for about a month and put about a thousand miles on it. Its a 2000 Z28 M6

You can buy some upper cylinder lubricate for your engine and it should lube up the pump and keep it quiet. If that doesnt help I would just replace it when you get the cash

your clogged filter stressed the pump, making it push extra hard, you took a bunch of life out of it, now it just a matter of when, not if the pump will die. Get a pump.
Change your filters at about 30,000 miles and this doesn't happen. Lots of people forget to do this and it cost them a lot of money.

dont lube your old pump. if you are going through all the trouble of taking the pump out of the tank (especially if you are dropping it!) then just put in a walbro. its only 90 bucks and trust me, you will not want to drop the tank again.
