Default how to tell if a 1969 z28 is a true cross ram car?

i have a friend who just purchased a 1969 z28 with a crossram and JL8 package.. So far the numbers are matching, but is there any code on the tag on the fire wall (or anywhere else) that will prove its a TRUE cross ram car? I know the front rotors should be 11 3/4" in diameter, but other then that how can you tell? Can we get the vehicle history from GM??? thanks!

I have a 69 but not familiar enough with the Z28 and even more so a cross ram set up so I'm not sure if the intake numbers would give that indication or not, might be date coding? Does it have the Winters snow flake on the intake manifold? Go here and ask your question, those guys will know how to help you.

the upper and lower intake are both stamped w/ the snowflake.. i believe after july 1969 the cross ram was discontinued..might be wrong.

It is impossible to tell if a car was originally a cross ram car because they were all dealer installed items. The only way to know for sure is if it came with the original bill of sale that has the cross ram set-up clearly on the invoice.

Since you state the hood is steel, his set-up is most likely from Heartbeat City in Michigan which produces complete cross ram set-ups which even have the original part numbers and '69 dates stamped in them.

Also look for a TI ignition which most guys who bolt on cross rams seem to forget to put on the car.

VIN is not on a rearend and IIRC JL8 is the code for a big block which would not have come with cross ram, only a 302 would have had cross ram.
