Power gain going from TR220/114 to TSP 228R/112

Power gain going from TR220/114 to TSP 228R/112
I want more power, and am trying to decide which route to take. Currently it has most bolt-ons, FLP's with cats, stock heads, and a TR220/114 cam which made 380 rwhp. I am thinking about going with a 228º/.588"/112º LSA +2 cam, and am wondering about how much power this will make over the TR220. I really want to do heads, but am having a hard time justifying the expense.
Thanks
Thanks

I made the exact switch a month ago and it made a huge difference. I really liked the TR220, but I like the XE-R 228 even better! I would say that the 15 rwhp is about right. You should be able to hit the 400 rwhp mark I'd think. I got my cam ground with 4 deg advance BTW.

I'm REALLY wanting to do a larger cam now! I think that I've about got the most out of my TR220 that it's capable of. When you changed to the larger cam, did it hurt your low end?

If you want the most out of a stock headed car- the only way to go is G5X2. You'll get the power and driveability. That's about as good as it gets with stock heads.
If you are set on the 228 cam- I would make sure that the TSP is a Comp XER lobe. If not, then I would call and getteh part number for the XER lobe with that spec direct from comp, and then order from a local dealer or sponsor that carries Comp parts like Thunder Racing.

Dan man, you guys change Cams like I change socks. LOL
I don't want to say something stupid, but I read somewhere and I think it has to do with JPR, that going over 220 with stock heads is futile.
I really want a sleeper cam, would MTI Stealth do the job?

The 228R camshaft is very popular and is a great all-around performer. I picked up 8 RWHP going to this cam from our 224R camshaft. FYI, both are ground using Comp's XE-R lobes. Our idea when finalizing the specs on the 228R was to provide excellent horsepower without giving up a ton of low-end or mid-range power. I ran a best of 11.41 @ 116.85 MPH on a 1.53 60' last year at the Southern Shootout with this camshaft and stock cylinder heads. FYI, the car tipped the scales at 3,526# on that pass.
Feel free to call or e-mail me if you have any other questions or concerns. We have a few larger cams, too, if you're looking for something even bigger than the 228R.
