Default Open Header Guys - - Come In Here!!

How are you guys running open headers?? Using extension pipes or just open after the collector??

Seems like I am having some trouble with O2s when running open headers, should I add some exhaust tubing after the collector?

I can make about 2 races and then O2s start giving me ****!

usualy 8in is good enough to keep the sensor's alive.

I ran open collectors for about 6months on stock single wire O2's

Just got quoted about $45 for a set of "Torque Tubes" from a local muffler shop....we'll try that route.

I ran open collectors for a few hundred miles, the O2 sensor on p.s ended up going out shortly after.

I dont think mine went out, no.

You can probly get the extensions for $10 man, just ask if they have any scrap 3in pipe and buy some collector rings, have them zip them up at the exhaust shop. Mine were $14 for 4in collector rings and pipe

I just ran open headers not too long ago for a very very short time and both my 02's just took a **** on me and the one was practically brand new. A few inches of piping will solve that issue like already said.

i once read on here that it causes them to take a **** because they're heated, and at some point cold air comes back and hits the sensor.

this true or is there another reason why they do this? (i had the problem until i put extra pipe on.

I believe so, its something about air going back into them and that could possibly be it.

This is no help to you but how much are you picking up running with open headers vs through the exhaust?

none actually..maybe a small bit of MPH, but then again, i have yet to run open header vs. true dual on the same day....i think the duals flow just fine and prolly compare to open header very well...for me it is just a mind thing...i feel better in a loud car, and since i bracket race against 10 and 11 second cars, it helps if i can hear mine in the car over the guy in the other lane.
and if ya can't be fast, might as wel be loud, lol

it didn't foul my O2's, but it would occasionally throw a code if I had been driving around at around 50 mph (low rpm converter locked) for a while... but the code would always go off if i sped up.
