I passed smog! Thanks!
On my '99 T/A, I've got a 383 stroker motor with AFR heads, 224/230 cam, LS6 manifold and a FAST T/B. I passed smog with flying colors - with the stock exhaust system on it. I was way below the maximums (see attachment - sorry for the low-quality scan).
My numbers were actually LOWER than my test 2 years ago, when I had no mods at all.
I think at least part of this victory was due to the advice I received in this forum: I added denatured alcohol at about a 30-percent ratio in my tank.

I'm putting 389 to the wheels and about equal torque. Not spectacular for the mods, but I'm limited by my 100-percent stock exhaust system and also that it's an automatic transmission. Now that I'm through smog, I'm thinking I will get a pair of Mac mids and a cat-back and see how I do then.
But in general, I really like the way the car runs. It's got a pretty smooth idle, good low-speed performance and part-throttle "tip-in." And I don't think I've noticed much of a change in fuel economy from stock! My wife, who is not into cars at all, drives it fairly regularly and has no problems or complaints.

Good way to save money if you know what your doing. I'd never really though about having a stroker motor built, just heads, cam and intake, but it may go on the list. Sounds like a good setup.

If your bottom end is solid, I would recommend just the H/C/I. You'll make similar horsepower either way. My bottom end had high mileage, and I really needed an overhaul anyhow, so the decision to spend an extra few grand on the bottom end was easier. You can do your heads, cam and intake all at once, and, if you're good with tools, it's really not that hard (although it's best to have an experienced helper). Then you'll need a good tune . . .
