Must have had a small chip or something. Look where it started and see if a small indention is present. It takes alot of twisting to crack it.
Mine cracked one day in the heat when I shut the door. Turned out where something hit a few weeks earlier has placed a nick in it, that finally spread due to heat.

It cracked in the upper right corner, up in the tinted part. it made like a small y shape straight down then curved toward the drivers side. that was a month ago then today i washed it with letting the windsheild cool down and cracked it straight down the middle like a dumb ***.

T-top roof had nothing to do with it.... on 4th gens... the T-top is the same structurally as the hardtop.
??? For you though.... Do you have a STB bar (AKA gf bar) on the car????
Some of the 3 point STBs that tie into the firewall have been known to cause the windshield to crack.
STB has no effect on 4th gens. (That is why it is refered to as the gf bar. (girlfriend bar. ) You are better off without it.

well ttops can definataly do the trick...got to be careful...doesnt take much and sometimes you just get lucky and have this happen to you...ive seen ttop cars with not that much power crack the paint on the sailpanels...its a weird deal man....my best advice would be to invest in a stb and frame connectors for more stability and maybe prevent this from happening again

Mine cracked a couple months ago, but I couldn't find where the crack started. I got mine replaced for $250. They even came out to the house to do it. The installer showed me where the crack started. It was a very tiny chip on the edge of the glass. You will really have to search for it to find the reason, but im pretty sure it wouldn't have anything to do with the t-tops being out.
