Default Intake restriction?....90 KPA @ WOT?

Took my car out last night for a little datalogging and came up with this on my map readings....

@5076-94.9 kpa
@5502-93.4
@6031-92.3
@6342-90.4
@6780-89.7
@6858-90.1
@7005-87.5

Datamaster showed the kpa at 100.8.... Does it look like my intake tract is restricting my engine? Little info the car...... .060 LT1, AI heads,cam and street ported intake, plus all the regular bolt-ons, ie 58mm Tb, LT's etc.

Last night I was running a K&N CAI with no filter but using panty hose, no maf and an intake elbow from my old procharger kit. The thing that concerns me is the elbow. Its 4" at the TB but then necks down to about 3" where it would meet the maf.

I just wanted to put this on here and see if anyone reading could be better and what kind of maps you guys with h/c are seeing.

Thanks
Travis

Due to only having SD cars so far, I can't really help the main question. But like exhaust, you can have 3" exhaust but if one spot is 2-1/4, that'll be the most it can flow. However, with the small details you provided, it's hard to tell what the motor can do. Cam and head specs would help other's, and if you had the heads flow tested, those numbers would be helpful as well.

One bit confuses me though, are you tuned for SD mode or MAF?

Its tuned for SD.

Advanced induction 200cc ported stock casting, ported intake and an AI spec'd 23x/24x cam on a 110 lsa. The car has ran 7.28@95.77 in the 1/8th but I was running an open TB and not running through the cai setup.

smallest point in my system is the f-body MAF and mine still builds vacuum. I think you need to open the system up a bit. I also wonder if pantyhose poses a restriction. If it is stretched over a filter as I have seen done as a prefilter I think that fine but just oer a 4" openig I wonder howmuch it is blocking.

I found it funny how I had mentioned that as a 'race' filter a few months back, and people thought I was nuts

" Does it look like my intake tract is restricting my engine?"

Yes, big time. Doesn't look like the panty hose flows enough air. What is the flow rating of your regular air filter? Under ideal conditions a 3" pipe will flow around 1000cfm. I believe the 58mm throttle body is around 1000cfm. So combine the two and you will be less than 1000cfm.

I hope none of you guys ever destroy a motor because your pantyhose falls off. But if ever you do end up with pantyhose down the motors pie hole, in the interest of dignity, please make up a good lie. For example "I blew up the opti".

Not claiming this is your problem, but just a thought...

The increased ability to flow of the pantyhose may be negated by the fact that it is stretched flat over a 4" hole, giving it a surface area of only ~12.6", compared to a K&N cone style filter that may flow less per square inch but has a MUCH larger surface to breathe from.

Don't put aside the significance of a filters surface area.
