May need to go into further detail, does it hesitate when you floor it or is it running fine and you just think the lt1's are slow stock..which they are lol..

No lol, it was running fine until recently. When i hit the gas it starts bogging down and sounds like its running on 5 cylinders. It also recently started back firing quite a bit.

you can do this test for the opti
http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#opti_test
but i think its a little early for that test, seeing as how your car still runs. if your plugs and wires really check out, i would test the icm next.

really it could be anything in the ignition system. i had the same problem earlier this year. my plugs gapped out at .07x, and my plugs wires were arcing so bad that i couldnt even start the car in the rain. what did your plugs gap out to exactly? and even if you could scan your car, i doubt it would really tell you anything other than that you have a miss. if it is your opti thats going out, its unlikely that it will trigger a high or low res code.

on obd1 i though all you have to do is ground the a and b terminal on the diagnostic port under the dash to retrieve codes? the ses light on the dash will blink numerous times depending on the code number. My 92 gmc truck is that way, local parts store should have a little two prong tool you stick in the diagnostic port, then turn the key on but don't start it.

change out parts with known good parts from friend's cars. Like coil, o2 sensors, etc. you get the idea.
