Default Boost controller maxed out?

Hey guys, I have a question about my boost controller being maxed out.
Ok, I have an 8psi spring in my sts kit with a HP76 and I only see 4psi(due to pressure loss and fmic), but it is referenced off the turbo itself(understandable). With the boost controller on full tilt all I can get is 10psi. Is there some kind of rule that you cant go more than double the gate spring or something or is there a problem with my boost controller. The boost controller I have is pulsating solinoid type that has an in car boost ****.

Do I need to up the gate spring or just get a better boost controller? I would really like to run 12psi

Run the reference line to manifold would be the first step.

You want to measure the air at the intake, not where it is exiting the turbo. It's a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way from back thurr.

I suspect you might have a boost leak, the WG spring might be bad, or your controller may not be in correctly. FWIW, my car made 4 psi on a 5lb spring when it had one. You shouldn't be losing 50% of the output. General rule is not to push a spring past double it's rating.

What gear are you measuring it in? Also, are you loading the car on the street, or is this on a dyno without load-bearing capability?

Sorry about all the questions...just helps paint a better picture.

In 2nd gear and up I see 10psi have not done 4th yet, all this on the street with mods in sig. Somehow I think it is the boost controller though. I did have the wastegate stick open one time but just once. I will try to get ahold of another wastegate spring too to test it.

Are you sure your BOV is operating correctly?

It'll make more in 3rd and 4th.

Just make sure there are no leaks. Have you pressure-tested the system?

whats an easy way to pressure test the system? I am pretty sure there are no leaks on the intake side. As for the exhaust I have band clamps holding on the y to the headers, but dont hear any exhaust leaks. Its pretty hard to hear anything else though when ur on it hard.

To make a pressure tester, I use a PCV pipe plug with a hole drilled in it then screw an air fitting into the hole. Then cap off the other end of the cold side, then hook up air compressor and listen, look, and feel.

note: don't use more then 10psi+(your current boost setting) when you test it.

Is there any links that can tell me how all of this **** works? I'm trying to learn so I can apply it here in a few months maybe less, depending on funds. Speaking of which, I have a rebuilt trans for sale if you need one.
