my gripe with qtp 3.5" cut out
i'd like to hear responses to these pictures.

they have agreed to take it back, but i still need a cut out.
i am frustrated that it was made like this, and dissapointed they are not interested in improving the product.

For the second picture, the butterfly cannot be exactly 3.5" or else it will not be able to open inside of the exhaust pipe! Metal expands in heat so it has to be smaller so it can function properly.
If you have any problems with the product please contact us!

are you very aware because of me or did you know about the problem and send mine out anyway?
if you are aware because of me why was it not a problem in the email instead of 'fine'
i understand the butterfly cannot be 3.5" exactly, was not expecting barely over 3"

Well looks like a first run production. Dont think much on demand for a cutout of that size. Why can't it be closer to a 3.5 inch? I do not see a problem with getting it close. Just my 2 cents.

OK situation resolved i guess.
Qtec is not willing to replace any part of what i ordered with the 'newest greatly improved version'. My options from them are to keep the one i have or return it.
They say it will be 4 months before the 'newest greatly improved version' will be available so just a heads up to anyone ordering a 3.5" cutout kit between now and then.. you will get one as i photo'd above.
since i really need the thing i am going to keep it, and modify the Y myself so that the merge is not restricted, and remain a customer dissapointed with the design & customer service related to this qtp product.

definately thanks for the heads up mightymouse. I was going to be ordering an electric 3.5" cutout here in the next month or so as soon as I have the collector and cutout put onto my y-pipe, but not anymore with an opening of just barely over 3".
I would've ended up sending it back.
FWIW. my flowtech cutout still has some blockage like the QTP cutout... but not NEARLY as bad... i'll be doing a little bit of grinding on mine as well before it goes on the car.
