Overall i think its worth the purchase. You gain alot more power in the mid to upper rpm range. You lose a little low-end torque, which i think our cars can do less with since it is a fwd.

The sound is great, deep and classic v8 sound. Little to no interior drone and almost quiet as stock when cruising and idling.

One problem you might have is aligning all the pipes perfectly as they are a bit bigger in diameter. I personally had to adjust it twice b/c it was hitting my rear sway bar.
You might also have to adjust how the tailpipes stick out the bumper inserts and if they stick out to far or too much to one side..etc..

I would buy this with the hogan downpipe and then you will see alot better gains in combination.

Yea i got it installed by a reputable shop in my area and i had to bring it back couple of times for them to get it down packed. It is really tight under there if you know what i mean. I got the cat-back for $605 and the labor for $120 so it sounds pretty close.

The downpipe will add extra power the cat-back cant do alone. I hear the downpipe in the impalas are the most restrictive in the exhaust system so this will give you a boost (5-10hp?) in the mid-upper rpm range.

check it out. http://www.hoganperformance.com/DP7S.htm

$850 is way too much. Buy your own mufflers and go see Eric at Lonestar Muffler (on Telephone Rd). I did and didn't pay a penny over $500. (see sig)

Don't mean to high jack the thread but Corny I plan on doing a custom catback after winter is done and I was wondering if you type of set up with the 3" back to 2.5" would be to much for my LTZ or should I just go with 2.5" all the way back.

2.5" is more than enough especially on a NA setup, might even loose some low end torque due to less back-pressure. Id just leave the piping alone and put on some muffs. and tips.

I have already done that, but I want something different and don't mind losing a little bit down low. My 3.9 has a lot of power down low. Plus when I get my tune everything should be good. What I was planning on is 2.5" all the way back, no res., dual Magnaflow round mufflers and 3.5" tips. Also thinking about putting a cutout in there somewhere, so when I want to be loud I can be

Go for it, I personally don't like the sound of a six cyl. with open exhaust, but to each his own. Good luck.

If you do it right a V6 can sound pretty decent with open exhaust. I had a 92 S10 with a 4.3 before I put the small block in and I had straight pipes on it, no cat, 2.5" all the back, and it sounded damn good. A lot of people thought it was a V8 before I had the V8 in it. But I probably won't have it open that much, just more of a screw around fun toy.

I dont know if this is aloud or not. But I posted a Near new magnaflow system for sale in the classifieds.

Edit.. Crap I thought it would fit an Impala. I guess the tips are different judging by the pictures. Hopefully there is a GXP owner out there somewhere that will want this.

Yep, GXP uses dual/dual tips and the Imp single/dual. Good price though for any GXP owner that wants it someone should jump on that fast.

Couldn't I just change the tips and be ready to go on my Monte Carlo?

Perhaps. Guess everything else should be the same under there. Shouldn't assume though someone else will have to confirm.
