Default Resonator Delete

I have a 06 Impala SS and thought I deleted the resonator by cuttin off the 2 mufflers in the back and putting a straight 3.5 wide inch pipe running straight from the exhaust pipes. Was that correct?

The resonator is like a pre muffler, its before the rear mufflers and in the single portion of pipe in about the middle of the car.

lol well dont worry, it should still sound good as it is. Since you left the resonator on you have less rasp than I do (no resonator and a cutout before the mufflers). The resonator doesn't hurt performance in any way so you're good.

No, you won't lose power. You actually picked up power by getting rid of the factory mufflers since they are restrictive as heck. Now your exhaust flows more freely = moAr powerz!

If you're worried about the "back pressure theory" you could have maybe lost a little low RPM torque feel, but the power difference will be felt in the higher RPM range.

LOL, can't say I've ever heard of someone confusing their mufflers with the resonator.

As far as putting them back, if you like the way it sounds, don't worry about it.

Like 20SS07 said, as long as you like how it sounds then don't worry about and leave it as it is. I'm sure you'll get plenty compliments on how it sounds like I get.

NEVER WRENCH ON YOUR CAR AGAIN! LOL I jest. We all got to start somewhere. I strongly suspect this would sound badass, I’ve been considering doing this my self. There may have been a thread around here somewhere. Most discoveries where found accidentally.
