Default what kind of oil should i use for the summer

hello everyone. i was just wondering what kind of oil, like weight and everything, that i should use in my 08 impala ss for the summer. anyone also recommmend any specific brand, like quakerstate or royal purple. thanks

I use Castrol, and you should use what your owner's manual tells you to use.

Yeah try the search....or try looking down the page a few posts....just posted about this a few days ago....and same response....no one has any data about it.

im runnin royal purple for my first time, hope it treats me well for summer.. it BETTER, after 9 buks a pop :\
but im sure mobil1 is fine, u have an 08, let the stealership take care of u..

I always use Mobil-1 full synthetic 5w-30, all year long here in CT...

I run Royal Purple too. I mix 3.5 quarts of 5W-30 and 3 quarts of 10W-30 for summertime. I guess that equals 7.3W-30. lol... It probably doesn't matter too much anyway. I do it for piece of mind.

what does that do?
i had bought 5 quarts originaly of 5 30 but am mising 2 quarts.. getting them by the weekend..
now u got me thinking lol since i had stopped by my local walmart and found only 10 30 so had to wait...
what would be the difference?
or shud i just not risk anything nad get 5 30?

Mobil-1 full synthetic 5w-30 all the time and down here in the deep south it gets damn hot.

A good quality ENGINE oil, not diff oil, hydrollic oil, mineral oil. I havent switched up my oils in this car. In my old 92 audi S4 turbo which i beat the **** out of id switch to mobil 1 15-40 or castrol 15-50 in the summer. If i didnt the lifter would tick like a mad man because of the high oil temps from the turbo when driving hard.
