Today my car wouldn't start I have a 06 gp gxp I got a jump and it started took it to a battery shop the guy said the alternator was good so I went home and later in the night it wouldn't start again tried jumping it but it just made cliking noises I think the cables were bad is this just the battery or am I looking at a bigger problem because the display was saying charging system failure. Put a multimeter to the battery. It should be around 12.5ish volts with no charge, and about 14ish volts when the alternator is charging the battery.

Same exact thing happened to me a month ago with my 06 GXP....Battery was toast. Just pop a new one in there and you should be good to go. Apparently the delco's in our cars are weak battery's from day 1

They're a pain in the *** to get out. You have to take the diagonal brace off, unbolt the fuse box and move it slightly, and wiggle the OEM battery out. My Optima replacement fell right into place a lot easier than it was to get the OE ****** out.

just did mine about 2 weeks ago. you need to 1. remove the brace above the battery and unclip the wire connection that is attached to it., 2. remove the fuse box cover and unclip the fusebox from its fasteners. 3. move away the bracket at the bottom of the battery that holds it in place; facing the front of the car, just remove the bolt on the right and loosen the left one until it almost out but leave it place. then just swing the bracket out of the way. 4. remove the positive cable from the fusebox, then from the battery.
5. remove the skinny negative cable ground from the car's frame. 6. try to move the battery out, it my be little difficult.7. if you have access to the negative terminal, remove the cable. 8. continue to remove the battery out at the same time pushing away the fusebox. 9. the battery may rub a little with the fusebox, but with a little force it will come out. 10. I bought the optima and the install was a breeze. Took me about 30 minutes, taking my sweet time for the entire swap in my driveway with regular tools.

So, does the Optima hook up directly or do you need to purchase new clamps or something?

The optima redtop 35 comes with its own battery tray of sort, but I put mine without it and it seems solid in there. so no problems as of yet.

If the battery is fine there is a possiblity one of the Modules is staying on by itself. I've seen radio, BCM and ECM all kick on by themselves due to a faulty ignition switch, bad B+ battery cable or just poor connection at the battery. Let us know if the battery does not fix it.
