What kind of gas do you use with a tune?
So ive been seeing that you have to use 91 or 93 octane gas and you cant use 87. probably going to get a tune soon and its around $3 a gallon for gas right now if i use octane gas. What happens if you have the tune and you accidentally put 87 in?

Why are you using 87 in the first place...these engines are 10:1...they need 91 or greater otherwise you are losing power...just wondering did your car come with an owners manual??

Ok...for my first tank I used 87 cause that's what the dealer filled it with...my car didn't come with a manual so I found out by joining here.
Just wondering if you didn't get a manual like me....

I only use 93 here in Maryland... accidentally had 87 put in last summer.... knocked like a MFer.... damn S/C cars
During the winter months I don't see why dropping to 87 would be a problem but I would definitely have to tune for it to keep my power.

In the manual it says you can use 87 octane gas but your acceleration may be slightly reduced and you might get spark knock.
It just says not to use anything lower than 87 octane.

Around here (central New York) its 87, 89 or 93 octane pretty much as choices. I have always used 93, I have a Superchips Cortex tune and have to use at least 91. AND all the stations around here now sell only "Contains 10% alcohol crap"

I will never gas at a shell again, got some bad gas from them. Only idk maybe 20 reporrted to have the same problem. When shell was confronted, they threw their hands in the air saying they tested the gas and that it was fine....
Same here. I can't find a single place that doesn't do that. Otherwise id go there from now on. Still looking...

I have the stock tune in my car right now (it was at the dealer getting the trans rebuilt under warranty) and I'm shocked at the amount of knock-retard I'm seeing on 91 octane "SoCal" super unleaded. These cars run very lean from the factory and have plenty of timing to keep the mileage up, unfortunately, this makes them very prone to knocking. The DiabLew tune I got last year eliminated 90% of my KR and improved my mileage, and I'll be reinstalling it just as soon as I know it doesn't have to go back in!
I highly recommend it.

I'm in the same situation. I got a manual, but hadn't read the whole thing. I did have to look in the manual to figure out how to calibrate my compass, and I'll look to see how to get me TPMS to start registering a reading, again.
Crap. Wish I'd read the manual more thoroughly. I've only used 87 octane since I brought the car home on October 20th of last year. Hope there's not any engine damage. The highest octane around here is 91, I believe.

As long as you haven't hammered it, you should be okay.
