Default Transmission question

Has anyone tried a 160 degree thermostat with water wetter to reduce transmission oil temps?

160 would be too low for the engine. No one really recommends changing the thermo, especially to a 160. They do recommend setting the fans to come on earlier though.

The way to go is a dedicated trans cooler. Read some posts via the search and you will see.

Agreed.

I would add a cooler, but omit the factory cooler in the radiator. All it does is add heat to the system. The difference on my car was about 15 degrees cooler just by removing the factory one from the circuit.

Also, our cars already have a 180 or 185 t-stat. And the LS motors don't really run better below that.
