Default couple questions

hey guys, im still new here so bare with me.. is it possible to run wheels and tires not staggered, on my grand prix gxp? if so, what would be the best size?

And do these engines and or trannys have a "whine" to them almost that of a quiet supercharger? i only notice it when my car is in gear, and it runs with the rpms.

thanks in advance.

Mine does not whine. I would get it serviced/looked at. Most 18 inch rims fit. Also you can run the same size all the way around. But bare in mind you would have to relearn the tire pressures sensors everytime you rotated your tires.

If I recall you have to go the 225 right because the 255's would rub in the back if you ran with that width. I could be wrong though....anyone else chiming in?

My 255's rubbed the inner fender lip during suspension travel, shaved rubber off the sidewalls. luckily no blow out.

Yes i have the 225 back, 255 front. If the 255 fit all the way around like u say i might go with that. Id like to have that little added grip. Which i dont even know what this car will do yet. Except a buck thirty. lol Thanks alot though fellas.

After owning my now 4th Grand Prix (the GXP that is) I will NEVER run anything but the factory size on the car. The way this thing turns in and rotates through a 90 is amazing for a FWD car in my book. I would never have thought of pushing any of my cars this hard before and My 98 had all new suspension and 17s (hey that was in 2002) with z rated tires and it handled second best although they wern't stagger. Who does that!? Is what I thought back then when a local realtor (for show) had staggered 19s on his Maxima (fat ones in rear just for looks) and he tried to sell them to me when I had my 06 GTSC and I seriously thought about it because of the GXP although at that time I had no idea the GXP had staggered fitment. So my rant is over and not sure what I accomplished other than sharing my experience with handling on the Wbody platform.

Uh, not sure if that helped me. lol but i have directionals on the front and theyre the stock staggered, so i will not be able to rotate. So i was wanting to get wheels all the same size without sacrificing handling performance. I guess i could just get non-directional tires for the front...
