Default Went to the track today....(Vids Inside)

I went to the track today with 94ss06gxp to see what my GXP ran and he brought his camaro ss (nice car!). I had a great time going up and down the track however, I just could not get the launch down. My best time was a disappointing 14.7 seconds at 96.78 mph.

On with the mods though! I plan on putting on a K&N, ls1 intake and having 06monteess, perform a tune on this thing and hopefully I will see some nice gains.

Hell, perhaps I should buy some different tires so I can actually catch traction. Current mods are flipped MM and resonator removal, so nothing really special.

Props to 94ss06gxp by running a 12.9 @ 109mph.

Catless DP, Tune and a cutout should do it.

I ran a 13.94 last year with just a Cai, cutout on dp, and no headlight. I went to the track last Friday and somehow wasn't even able to match that with a Lew tune added. My best was a 14.08 at 99mph.

Im thinking thats about what I might have to do. I cant have a predator tune my car as 05's are not supported.

And there is no way im spending $500 on a trinity. I suppose I will have to go with HP tuners or something.

Also, as far as the DP, im thinking I may go with a catted one as I do not want my car to be that loud unless I am of course feeling it (cutout). I will have a magnaflow catback going on the car later on this year as well, and im sure if I went with the catless it would be really loud.

If any of this doesnt make sense, its because im tired as hell and have been reading posts for the last 2 hours and cant think straight. Just a FYI

It will be more than bearable with a catless DP and two legit mufflers at the back.

Time for some good tires and spring blockers. If you can't find the blockers then you can do the cable mod.

Never race when it's hot outside. With all of my mods comming right out of traffic I ran 107mph with my current mods. After cooling down with the up for 2 hrs I hit 109ish

Well, I just found out that my POS intake wrap was causing my intake to stay hot as hell, 40* over ambient actually. Usually it stays nice and cool, but when I turn the car off, the intake actually warms, and stays warm when I start it back up. So I took the crap off, seems my intake is staying cool now. Hopefully I can make it back to the track this friday, I might try getting some spring blockers also. Anyone have suggestions on which spring blockers might work the best? Hopefully i can get down to the 13.80s, 70s would be really nice.

Intake wrap? If you were using header wrap, then that is a big no..no..

Nope, it was intake wrap, lol. It has an aluminum outer coating covering a thin layer of fiberglass. It's supposed to insulate the intake from getting hot, and it did, to an extent. When I would shut the car off, all of the heat would build up in the engine bay, even with the hood open, then the intake would get heat soaked and wouldn't cool off, or at least the sensor wouldn't cool off. Even with the air temps at about 70, I would see the IAT at about 120 before I made a pass, and only down to about 100-105 after I made the pass, then it would heat back up again while sitting. Right now, my IAT and ambient temp seem to be hovering right around each other, but I will have to wait until I get to the track to see if it stays that way. I do on the other hand have some header wrap that I will eventually wrap my crossover with. One of these days I will get to it.
