Replacement exhaust pipe only?
Anyone know of a source for a replacement exhaust pipe only for a 2007 GXP? Not the whole system.

What do you mean by "exhaust pipe" ? you can go to any local parts store and buy same size exhaust tubing with fitting's. Or you can buy just new mufflers and clamp them on or weld them in. Need some more details to better help exactly what your trying to repair or achieve.
Edit: that red is very nice BTW

Thanks. I'd like to find a replacement pre-formed exhaust pipe for this car, which is the pipe between the converter and the mufflers. Since the car has a resonator up front, I would imagine a replacement Y pipe would either be the rear section or two pieces.

All I keep coming up with is a replacement Y pipe from Walker, part #55367 which states that it fits 3800 engines only. I come up empty handed when I try the 5.3 engine option or GXP trim.
*update: According to http://www.streetperformance.com/aut...7484_100540vb/ this intermediate exhaust pipe is applicable to the GXP as well. I have a factory muffler going bad at the top seam so I need to start thinking about replacement. I don't agree with the $700 price tag for the Flowmasters in kit form. A $49 Walker pipe along with a pair of lightly used 40 series Flowmasters and I'll have about $100 in the replacement parts, not including the tip situation.

Since youre in michigan, make sure its stainless steel or you will be replacing it next year. Alumize mild steel is total garbage and will rust out in one winter. Stock pipes are 409 stainless. You can just cut the mufflers off close and put new ones on too without replacing the pipes.

I may reuse the pipe that's on there. Not too impressed with the factory stainless though, with the mufflers all rusted out already. Flowmasters are just aluminized mild steel.
Apparently there are different grades of stainless, as explained to me by the Shop Vac rep, when he sent me a complete replacement vacuum canister when my stainless "Industrial Strength" Contractor Series shop vac rusted through at the bottom after 3 years of use...

409 stainless doesnt look pretty after a year of heat cycles, however its very corrosion resistant. My old 92 lumina went through 17 Buffalo winters and was solid. You can get flow master mufflers in stainless. Our stock mufflers are aluminumize mild steel. Basically ther are tons of different grades of stainless steel. The three big components are chronium, nickle and carbon. 300 series are used for applications that typically are polished. Some grades of 300 can be welded better than others. 409 stainless is cheaper, but does an exceptional job with exhaust components if astetics isnt a concern after a year. Alumized mild steel exhaust pipe is no better than a toilet paper roll in the rust belt imo. I beleive exhaust components come in either 304 or 409 stainless. 304 costs more and looks shiny.

409 will surface rust and 304 won't as badly. Those are the two you will probably find when looking for exhaust pipe.

I see a lot of folks that are deleting their mufflers with pipes and just using the main silencer. Is this pretty loud? Let's be realistic. This is our family car. Thanks.

I think the car sounds really good as is for what it is. Too bad a replacement factory system is so outrageously expensive.
I think a pair of 40 series hooked to the factory pipe will do it. Thanks for your help.
