Default Ebay catch can install

Ive had these installed for a while now however i think it should be important for any LS4 owner to put one on.after two months it trapped almost a 1/3 cup of oil. not bad for a el cheapo catch can from ebay.
link for the catch can http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-HI...40bb05&vxp=mtr

install is simple i used 3/8' fuel line i had lying around to connect to nipple on valve cover and the same for the nipple on the intake manifold

Install wherever you want in the engine bay however i try to keep mine away from exhaust componets or other high heat componets.

update*** did follow up video click the link.... install pics are below

Pics are self explanatory. and if you need the refrence the fitting on left of the can is for "dirty" air and centered fitting is for clean air. drain plug is on bottom.

I installed one of those as well.

Nipple from the valve cover w/o the oil fill (my valve covers are flipped side to side) goes to the center inlet, the outlet on the side goes to manifold vacuum (mine is on the neck of the LS2 intake). I used 5/16" hose for a very snug fit w/o needing hose clamps.

I used some exhaust tubing to make a different mount:

With the way the hoses needed to route, the sight tube wasn't going to be visible (and it was interfering with my mount), so I installed plugs in the stock holes and ground then down smooth and drilled /tapped new ones in the proper location:

If you're referring to the clear line that's for the level of oil in the canister

How come you didn't just rotate the fittings on the top 180?

There are 2 holes in the canister for each nipple housing. One is threaded for the bolt and the other hole is about 1/4" in diameter for the air to flow through... can't just flip the nipple housings.

You can switch the placement of the inlet and outlet nipple housings, just can't flip them around 180.

I was referring to unscrewing the nipple housing and rotating both 180 so the sight line wouldn't hit the transmission

This was about 1/3 cup of oil after about 2-3 months time

The lines intercept the factory pcv lines

And you can't do that because their are 2 holes under each one of the nipple housings - one threaded and one larger one. Flip the housings 180 and the bolt hole in the nipple housing will be about 3/4" from the threaded hole in the canister... take one off and have a look.

Did a temporary solution after reading the posts here. After just over a week with the car, I already didn't want to see the smoke & resulting tailpipe blackening. Ordered an Ebay can that should arrive by Thursday as well (was on my radar back during some 3800 project plans).

Bought a filter off the shelf for ~$4 along with some 3/8" fuel hose to sift oil from the free-flowing path just before the intake draws it in. Not too concerned with collecting the oil right now, as it'll just drip back into the engine once it condensates.

Might put a stainless mesh in the can to serve this purpose next week. Also considering an in-line pcv valve, unless someone has a reason why that's not done more often. Either way, making a 1st step under a hood I am hoping to make minimal changes to... because I like the way it runs thus far (especially the cruising mpg's that DoD enables, as unpopular as that is in these circles).
