Default 07 Grand prix GXP, brakes suck.

Girlfriend has a 07 GP GXP. The brakes squeal during braking 70% of the time. She had an inspection done by a GM dealer said everything was fine pads were 60-70% life. Now is it true these brakes just squeal from factory? She hates the fact she has a 30,000km on the car and it squeals.

What will fix this? non-slotted rotors? ceramic pads? Dealers for these parts?

All depends are the rotors glazed over? Are the pads glazed as well? Usually those are the things that can cause the squealing.

On the mechanics report it said the rear rotors "were discolored"

It's the metallic pads. Get ceramic and it won't squeal and you won't have all the brake dust buildup.

Not necessarily, I had raybestos ceramics on and they squealed like a stuck pig and all sorts of brake dust. They lasted about 4k miles before I had enough and got some OEM Delco pads. Much better now.

Get the ACDelco ceramic pads for this vehicle.

You might also want to add some brake anti-squeal paste between the backside of the pad and the actual piston.

Mine did the same thing and I replaced the pad with Delco ceramic and it went away.

Putting some lube on the metal clips that hold the pads in helps, too. They squeal like mad when they vibrate.
