Default ...Aux Install??

Girlfriend has a 2007 Grand prix GXP, monsoon, no xm, no nav. She wants to be able to run an aux cable to play music off her phone. If she purchases a nav factory unit and has that unit unlocked and vin programmed is she able to install a stero jack into the factory nav unit?

I just installed and ISimple IS32. It was pretty simple and works great. They can be had for $50 or so.

Just look on crutchfield and sonicelectronix and see if theres a t harness that uses some input on the current radio. Pretty sad to spend 50 when you can get a new aftermarket head unit for like 100.

I would save the money and buy an aftermarket head unit that already has a 3.5mm jack on it. You'd save money over buying a factory nav unit and the wiring is very easy with a wiring kit.

Factory head unit ALWAYS looks and performs better than aftermarket, aftermarket has always looked cheesy and not proper, OEM ftw! go with isimple and hide the buttons and connections as stealthy as possible

plus, on your DIC, aftermarket will make you not be able to program the date

For $100 dollars it will be a junk head unit. Not too mention you still need to buy harnesses to install which will cost as much or more than the solution I already posted above.

Like a Pioneer FH-X500UI for example. You don't "need" a harness, just a trim piece. Find the part number for a metra or whatever and scour the interweb. $100 is doable for that setup...

I dont know where u get that type of info at i have been installing car radios for 18 years now and aftermarket is always better than factory sound look functions that u have factory radios only have bass, mid, treb, when u go aftermarket u have a 6-13 band eq and crossover to make your crap *** factory speakers sound halfway decent when u crank it up!!!!!

The only problem is aesthetics . An aftermarket HU stands out like a black fly on a white wall. I agree it makes factory speakers sound better most times along with AM amps etc.. , but the GXP's monsoon HU just fits and compliments the rest of the interior/dash very nicely.

How much would that run all in for someone? I am talking normal retail, not some special deal.

Search for the crazy ipad installs if you want to see something. I would like to use a nexus 7/10, but the lack of storage turns me off for now. If you have a bluetooth connected phone with a 64gb sdcard full of music that's a pretty nice start...

No not at all the monsoon system will run much happier with a stronger input signal will not require as much volume to achieve a good sound level and with the crossover technology built in it will sound ten times better!!
