Default My First LS4...

Pick this up for $6,800 last week. 2007 with 116k. Had some sorta dorky magnaflow knockoff mufflers and a K&N hot air intake. The intake and mufflers will go eventually but the trans has to be addressed first.

I've read 90% of the horror stories on here so I figure some preventative maintenance will go a long ways for me. First will be a shift kit and a cooler. Did some stop and go city driving today and temps got up around 220° and shifts were really slow and sloppy. The general consensus seems to be the shift kit from TEP. Do I need a special kit different from what's listed since this car has the TapShift feature?

Also, what's everyone use for a DOD disable on these? It's handy for highway driving but it's annoying as all get out around town.

Triple edge performance is the place to go for the trans stuff, to disable the DoD in the computer you need HPtuners to reflash the car. Ill be ordering this tranny cooler real soon when I pull my motor and trans. http://shop.tripleedgeperformance.co...TC4711-LS4.htm

As far as the shift kit and the tap shift feature goes, best to email TEP about it, I know there are some differences on whats used in the kit with tap shift, they are out of town this week so they wont be answering phones.

anyone tried one of these?

All I'm really desiring out of a tune is the DoD delete is the kicker of the deal. I'm about 50/50 on highway/city driving so my thought was on trips to remove the plug and take it out when I'm not. Unless there's a better option with a tune?

The tune though, when done by someone with knowledge of the platform will help your trans last a lot longer dod can be delayed and be reset but in the end if you want yor motor and trans to last a lot longer just disable dod. There a lot of things a tune will do for you. Especially increasing gas mileage and around town performance

What's a quality tune cost? I know it'll vary by area but what's the ball park?

True. I never thought about tuning it to engage at a certain speed/gear. Good suggestion!

I emailed TEP Monday of this week and haven't heard anything back. That about the norm? I'd like to get the ball rolling here but don't want to order the wrong kit

They are a bit slow with responding this week, I think they are in and out of town all week.

Oh okay, I was thinking that was last week. I am hoping to get something going soon. This car needs a pan gasket something fierce. Barfing fluid all over my garage floor if it sits a day or two.
