Default Monte Carlo Power Door Locks

If you put the key in the lock cylinder and turn the key one way should the doors lock, turn the other way and unlock? Also my key is alittle hard to push in just at the end of travel.

On my Imp I can unlock the drivers door using the key in that door, that's it. Not sure what happens if you try and lock I've never done that.

I believe the Imp will unlock the DS with one turn, then turn it again to get them all to unlock. Will check when I go to lunch.

Heaven knows why I even bothered to stick the key in the door....But I did hehehe. Anyone who can find out what it is supposed to do other than lock and unlock the driver door I would really appreciate it.

I don't know about the Monte or Impala Count, but I have had vehicles in the past that if you turn the key to the unlock position and hold it there, it would unlock all the doors. It did not work to lock them though.

It does lock and unlock the way Buff said. One turn unlocked the drivers door, then turned again for all of them. Not that I'll ever have to do that again since I just use the remote.

I bought my '96 explorer in 2001 and not one lock cylinder worked. I replaced them all after my battery died and I had to nearly break the liftgate glass to get in. In the Imp we only have one, so I make sure to use it once every couple weeks to keep it operational.

And on ^^^^^ note, just used the key on my way out to lunch a little while ago. It was almost frozen shut with salt buildup. I guess I haven't been practicing what I preached. Was able to tap the key a few times to break the "seal" and then it took a little force to get the cylinder to turn. Going to get some lock lube this weekend. With this shitty keyless entry system, it's only a matter of time until it fails completely.
