Chevyfest = A new Personal Best for the lil bolt on only LT1! (long)
First off i want to say that for everyone that made it to chevyfest either sat or sunday, it was a great event.... (i only made it sunday, fri night was a shitshow couldnt wake up early enough for racing lol) there was a lot of cool cars and awesome bracket racing competition....
So i arrived at 7:30am on sunday, got teched in and found a nice pit area... the weather was so nice and the DA all day ranged from -100 to +800 so the weather was pretty damn good... i ended up just racing the street chevy class...
First Pass (Time Trials) she ran a 12.50 @ 107mph with a 1.70 60ft right out of the gate... i was pretty thrilled because that was the goal for the weekend... and was a new personal best over the previous 12.61 @ 106mph
2nd Pass (1st round of eliminations) i lined up next to a high 10 sec malibu, very clean car but the guy wasnt an expirenced bracket racer, i could tell by talking to him, so i dialed soft with a 12.53 and didnt go after the tree with a .096 light (crap) but had him by a mile so i lifted about 150ft pass the 1000ft mark and coasted to victory... she ended up running a 12.58 @ 98mph with again a 1.70 60ft
From the looks of the entire timeslip i was on another 12.50 pass or maybe even a 12.49 pass, so i was excited and i took it into account for my next round dial in
3rd Pass (2nd round of eliminations) I had no idea who i was lining up agianst until i pulled up to the beams... so i dialed tight with a 12.48 dial and i went after the tree which turned into my downfall in the bracket race i got a -.002 light,i knew right away when i saw red it had to be damn close... i was pissed at myself but i knew it was my oppurtunity for a new PB so i dented the floorboard and didnt let up until after the stripe... when i came around the slip looked like this:
R/T -.002
60ft 1.696
330 5.066
1/8 7.915
MPH 85.87
1000 10.394
1/4 12.495
MPH 107.32
Raceweight 3364lbs
all new personal best 60ft, 1/8th ET and 1/4 ET!!!!!!!!! i was so phsyced!
then i looked at his times he was 2 tenths off his dial in and had a wicked shitty light with a .126, if i just didnt red light i would of had him and another oppurtunity for another personal best... but w.e im happy, i never dreamed of getting a 12.4 pass this year and i am very satisfied with the car... i went from a personal best of 13.3 in perfect weather last year to 12.4 in good weather this year... almost a full second gain.... not too shabby for a bolt ons only lil LT1 street car driven to and from the track!
i retired the car for the year, and next year im just gonna do weight reductions and some small suspension mods (im broke) lol but i still got a crap load of weight to get out of it, full emissions, a/c, front and rear bumper supports, and crash bars....just off the top of my head... the goal is a low 12 sec pass or a high 11 sec pass by the end of next season!
thx guys for reading!! it was a great year!! and a great season!!

i have the rksports sportsback hatch
still has a/c, full emissions, front and rear bumper supports, and crash bars. and full interior from the front seats forward, and full carpet from the trunk forward.
their is definetly more i can get out of it b4 i start spending $$ on weight reduction, most of the stuff in the bold will come out this off season (im gonna keep the full interior), that and a lil suspension work im hoping for a low 12 sec or high 11 sec pass on stock gears by the end of next season

You mean to tell me you're running that fast with an AUTO?!
Just kiddin, I wouldn't give up my auto! Damn good times for what you have done. I'm kinda knocking on those times once I get a stupid stall in my car. I ran a 13.19@107 last season on a 2.03 sixty foot. Track wasn't prepped but the weather was nice. Maybe after I get a set of drag wheels (chrome ZR1s are heavy at the track!) and a stall, it would be a good race between us!

Congrats Tony...
It looks like you are following in my footsteps a little, last year I did the same thing, went from 13.1 best to a 12.50's best by summer and into the 12.0s after weight reduction. Keep it up and I may have to sink the bolt-on record a little further, LOL...
Either way, good racing, good writeup, and a serious congrats to you...
