headders
is it possible to convert my '97 into a single cat set up and still be emissions legal? my friend had a 95 with the edelbrock mid length headders that i really liked. my goal is to be able to run open headders and be able to put the cat in for testing. or are there any LT set ups that are emmissions legal?

As far as i know theres nobody that makes long tubes that will pass CA emissions. You might be able to go with single cat system using aftermarket cats.
Single cat system were only on the pre 95 years. Ive had few 95 fbody, auto's had dual cat and the 6 speeds had single cat in 95.

What i would do is go find an inspection station and ask them what they would pass and what they wont. I would see about doing long tubes with a off road Y pipe then buying two cats and having them weld one cat into each side of the y pipe.
