Default Any way to drop 60's?

My camaro is a '93 Z28 with 137k miles on it, and I took it to the track this fall... And I was pleasantly surprised, all except for one thing.

I ran a 14.1@98, but with a 2.2 60ft... I couldnt' get that 60 down no matter what I did. It wasn't a traction issue either. I wasn't spinning, and I was stepping on it immediately off the line.... So i have no idea what to do.

My LS1 ran a 1.97 best 60ft with the stock converter/tires still on it, so with the LT1 torque I expected similar results...

And if I could get it down there I would be running in the high 13s on a 100% stock car that's 15 years old, has 137k miles, and cost me $2k. haha. Any ideas??

Drop the Air Pressure in the Rear Tires a little bit, and stiffen up the Rear Suspension.

He wasn't hitting it hard off the line.. if he does what I said and hits it hard off the line, then he should have some gain..

2.73s? If the tires aren't spinning, it's a combination of the power to weight and gearing that's holding you back. Either give it more gear, more power, or take some weight out of it.

No, I was hitting it hard off the line. Sorry if I made it sound different.

And I do have 3.23's too... Hmm....

if your gonna do a rear end on it just wait and get 373 or else just do a few rear suspension mods and lower the tire pressure and you should be right around 2.0

DR's w/ low pressure should net you even better. I also recommend suspension stuff for the rear.

First place I would start is a tune up. You should be able to cut better than a 2.2 60ft stock.

Thats what I was thinking too...

I've already done plugs (PAIN btw), seafoamed it, and sealed the exhaust leak... What else would you suggest?

With an auto I always had the best luck stalling it around 1600 or so and shifting it myself. DRs at 18 psi should help a ton.

best 60' i had is in the sig. a dead hook of the line even when punching it. stalling it to 1600 would add about .1 to the 60' every time.

my car is full weight with 2 kicker CVR 12's and me at 350 HAHA I need to lose about 100 pound

No one mentioned the converter, thats odd lol, thats what you need plain & simple, get a decent converter & some DRs, you'll be plensantly surprised!!

Well, I kinda meant while keeping the car stock.... haha.

And there is no chance I could get it up to 1600... I would be sitting there spinning for sure. I could barely get above 1000 if i remember correctly. Which is weird. I used to launch at 1400 in my LS1 all the time before the converter. Do the LS1s have different converters stock?

yea im wondering how you stalled it up to 1600 too, at about 1200 i start turning the tires and i'll jump the line.

im about to get my tranny redone soon with a higher stall, so then would it let me stall it up higher without starting to spin the tires because its still slipping?

what tires do you have. It would stall up to 15-1600 stock.

with 275-50-15 MT's radials I can go to 2000 before I start pushing the fronts. Im on the rebuilt stocker

Some people hold there stall at the brink of pushing the front tires, When I was auto, my best launches was to find the RPM at which the front tires were going to give, then I would back off about 500 RPM to give me that sling shot affect with the converter spinning then grabbing, kind of like dumping the clutch. This method (for me) produced my best 60ft which lead to the better E.T's...

I have Riken Raptors. They're by Michelin. They're really good normally. And even with my 555R's at the track I can't come close to pushing my front tires, I just spin the rear ones first... haha

This is exactly what i would do. Hold it untill it wanted to push then back off a bit. I remember it holding untill about 18-1900 with good brakes and DRs
