Default 383 lt1 hp?

How much power should I be making and what can I expect on the 1/4 with a m6 383 lt1, lt4 hot cam, lt4 p&p heads, lt4 p&p intake, aluminum intake elbow, ud pulley, long tube headers, cutout, 4.10 gears, 1.6 roller rockers, and stage 3 clutch, tubular adjustable control arms, adjustable a-arms?

You can expect to be walked on by heads and cam cars that made better decisions

Not the answer you wanted but is the truth.

Would have been a LOT further ahead with different cam and topend.

Displacement does not work unless you feed it, lots of opinions on the LT4 heads some will claim they are awesome with little to no results to back it up, I am of theopinion that they are grossly overrated, and EVERYONE will agree you made a very poor choice in using that cam in a 383.

I will be happy for you if you prove me wrong, but with 9 years of playing with the LT motors and three cars with them sitting in my driveway right now, I have a fairly good feel for what makes them work.

A friend has a AFR headed 383 with a lot more cam in an f-body and it wont touch my car.

I agree about the comment on the baby cam. As for the heads, it all depends on who did the port job and how much work was done. Any flow sheets?

During your build, you would give either Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Induction a call and explain to them your setup in detail and they will spec out a cam for you and grind you one.

Well if you don't know anything about it, I'd say run something like...
23x/23x .575/.575 108 but that is just a complete shot in the dark.

if you don't go custom and it's off the shelf I'm a big fan of the comp cams 236/242 .556/.576 112lsa hydraulic roller... you could make big power with that cam in a 383... it made around 525 hp in my little 355..... 422 at the wheels...

It's one of their XE grinds. I'm sure if you call them they will have it available. That's how I bought mine. And I think www.thunderracing.com still carries it too - might want to check that out.

For some unknown reason, it seems all most every single post with a 383 in it, has people putting in the lt4 hot cam lately. It seems I have read it at least five to six times this month. So I will say it again, get a bigger cam.

It's not an unknown reason. They just don't know any better. That's why they come to the forums and ask for advice.
