clunking in passenger front
Hey guys my car is making this annoying clunk in the passenger front area. I hear it when im goin over speed bumps and bumps in the road. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it might be. I know i need to get new motor mounts but i didnt know if that would be making the sound. I can also feel it in the floor boards when it clunks. If not the motor mounts i was thinking maybe bushings since they are probably the stock bushings from 1994. Thanks guys any info would be awesome.

well i noticed the oil coming out of the strut so thats probably the culprit huh? Anyone using the bilstein suspension? i might order two for the fronts and the rear and have them put on.

Depends on the Bilsteins I suppose. You talking the factory ones off our cars or what? I've always wondered about KYB AGX (or whatever the non adjustable ones are), just for a daily driver that doesn't see the track, but no one ever responds

im talkin about the aftermarket bilsteins. I wanna get the koni's but i dont know if i can afford 800 bucks for shocks and struts. The car is mostly a fun car. Right now its a daily driver but soon im gettin a beater so my z can rest in the garage. I probably wont go to the track more than 3 times a year.

yeah so have i. I want to do the koni/strano combo cause i have read that its the perfect set up. I dunno its gonna be like a grand for the struts and springs. Can i let the clunking go on for a few weeks until i can afford to buy the good stuff? I use the car for work so i just need it to last until i can get the cash together.

thats what i am going to do down the road. Sam Strano is the man for suspension stuff.
you shouldnt worry about the clunking if its the strut... just take some time to see what it is. if there is a lot of oil around the strut then that is probably the problem

also check your ball joints, i had one go on my drivers side and it made a clunking noise. Just jack up the car and pull on the bottom on the tire and see if it moves side to side from the car.
but if there is oil coming from the strut...

I wish I could figure out the ever so random (but slightly repeatable) noise in mine. It's not a clunk, or a thud/clunk, or a clack, or a creak. The best I can describe it is a CRICK heh It seems to be a combination that occurs all at once, of a creak and thud or clunk. It's SO damn weird. I'm basically thinking about just replacing all the front control all bushings and probably then going Polly.

My old Z28 clunked for years the same way. I always thought it was the lower control arm bushings but I could never find anywhere that sold the bushing in the back. You had to buy the whole controlarm to get it. It is annoying.

I just installed my KYB AGX single adjustables today! front struts and rear shocks. The car needs an alignment now but I will let you know how they are. All I know is that the rear shocks are very easy to push down. I don't understand why they would be so squishy feeling but whatever I'll have to see after driving it!
